I started this blog to emhasize how important cat safety is. I have lost many cats due to neglect of not keeping them either inside or contained in an outdoor environment.
This blog is basically all about the cat enclosure that took a large chunk of money to put up. However, you can't put a price tag on piece of mind.
Right now, I have 3 cats. The oldest is a siamese mix I got at animal control. Misty was left there for 18 days and no one even checked or called to see if she was there. Misty is now about 12 yrs old and only goes out to the enclosure if I go with her. She would've been content to stay indoors all the time. But, once outside, she sniffs her breezes and lets the sun shine on her coat.
The 2 boys, Huey and Felix HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE !!! Huey is a normal cat with no special needs. Felix is part wild but is also the most loving. He will stay outside no matter what the weather is doing. Because of the way my enclosure was built, he has plenty of protection from wind, snow, rain. His picture is in the post "Catnip garden in enclosure ".
Huey is on this page.
You can see Misty on post titled "Cat Enclosure Resources."
Throughout this blog, I have specialized on every aspect of cat safety by providing details for many areas that were considered when deciding to have the enclosure built.
I didn't want just a plain part of my yard dedicated to the enclosure. I wanted a special place for the cats to be, hence, the catnip garden.
The lighting needed to be something different as well, hence, "decorating the cat enclosure".
I didn't come up with this idea all by myself, so I listed "resources for cat enclosure."
Keeping the cats safe in the enclosure came up after it was built, so it has a post describing how that got accomplished.
I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoyed writing about it. I invited our local animal control folks over after it was built.
Their response" if every cat owner put up anything even close to this, there would be virtually no "lost cats" !!!
Cats enjoy being outside like everyone else...the trick is to keep them safe and secure while doing it!!
Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see only about a third of the enclosure. To the right of this picture, in reality is the rest of the setup. It is my cement patio and door I had built into it. The patio part you can see on post title " Cat Enclosure Resources".
